About this tool
Calculate a digest of UTF-8 text for comparisons and development checks. Hashes depend on the exact text, including spaces and line endings; this tool is not a binary-file checksum utility or a password storage system.
When to use it
- Compare known text payloads.
- Prepare digest values for development fixtures.
- Check how small text changes affect a hash.
How to use it
- Open the tool on HTTPS or a trusted local origin.
- Select an algorithm and paste or read text.
- Calculate the hash, then copy or download the hexadecimal result.

Important details
- An ordinary public HTTP address cannot use browser Web Crypto hashing.
- SHA-1 is for legacy compatibility, not protecting security-sensitive data.
- Text file reading decodes text; it does not hash original binary file bytes.
Frequently asked questions
Why does hashing require HTTPS?
The browser restricts Web Crypto digest operations to secure contexts; this tool does not bypass that restriction.
Can I use this as a password storage system?
No. Producing a plain text digest is not a substitute for a dedicated password storage design.
